Countryside of BiH with its stunning water abundance, high mountain peaks and stunning forests will simply amaze you. This itinerary is created with an idea of providing fully personalised experiences that will turn your trip into a once in a lifetime journey. 

The 10 days full board package will enable you to explore into depth the capitals of three regions while, at the same time, staying off the beaten path and involving in the charming life of BiH villages which will meet all of your needs. You will enjoy amazing hospitality, accommodation, catering and leisure activities while preserving together – your health and environment. 

Please note that this is a shared tour trip but can be arranged as private on request. In order to maximise the quality of our service we have limited number to 8 people per group.

Logistics

  • Most convenient arrival point is Sarajevo International Airport (SJJ). Also consider using Wizz Air as cheaper option and fly into Tuzla International Airport (TZL).
  • If you plan to arrive either from Dubrovnik / Split / Zagreb or Belgrade, please contact us for affordable private transfer or consider one of our connecting tours.
  • Your arrival on Day 1 can be anytime. We recommend being in Sarajevo before 8 PM so you can attend our welcome dinner.
  • Your departure on Day 10 can be anytime.

What’s Food Alike?
Bosnian food is unique mix of eastern and western cuisine which blended with local customs is creating probably the most diverse cuisine in the Balkans. Bosnian food included a lot of meat, but don’t worry we have you covered in case you prefer vegetarian options. We will focus a lot on traditional village/mountain food with great mix of tasty urban dishes as well. Tasting local specialties Ćevapi or Burek is must have. Roasted lamb and homemade pita (eng.pie) are out of this world delicacies.

  • DAY 1 (Welcome to Sarajevo)

Private Airport transfer from Sarajevo International Airport to Sarajevo city is included in the package price.

Straight from the airport we will head towards the famous Olympic Mt. Trebevic which will be your home for the next two nights. We will arrange local barbecue dinner for a perfect welcome.

  • DAY 2 (Sarajevo Full Day)

A legend says: “Whoever drinks water from any of Sarajevo’s fountains and spouts will come back to Sarajevo”

After we have some tasty local breakfast, we will head towards stuning Paljanka – Miljacka River Spring. This is the most charming, absolutely off the beaten path spring which you have most likely ever visited. The place is perfect for taking some amazing photos and doing nice and easy (roughly 1h) walk through the forest.

Later on, we will head towards the old town (Bascarsija) where you will learn about Sarajevo, from its past to its present. We are going to take you around the old town, let you soak in the atmosphere of the city fortified bt the old Ottoman and Austrogarian buildings. 

For a perfect closure of the day we will prepare a home made dinner and host you in our Bosnian Room. With traditional Sevdah live music and small talks with locals, in private and safe ambience, you will have a chance to share the impressions so far and ask what ever the question you have in mind.

  • DAY 3 (Lukomir and Umoljani Village – Meet the Nomads)

We will start a day after the breakfast and drive towards another Olympic beauty – Bjelasnica. Bjelasnica Mt. is a famous ski resort in Bosnia and Herzegovina and home to the two stunning villages – Umoljani and Lukomir. 

Hiking from Umoljani to Lukomir is what our team highly recommends. It takes around 3h of hike towards the village of Lukomir and the sceneries you will witness along are simply spectacular. During this hike, you will undergo one way hike from Umoljani to Lukomir village via Cold Creek and edge of the stunning Rakitnica canyon. It will be around 7/8 km of hiking, almost without any altitude gains. It can be done by children with age as low as 5 or 6 years. Most importantly, you are in absolute safe hands. On the other hand, if you are more into biking option, or simply doing a car ride and stopping for some amazing photos, no worries we will take care of it.

Once we arrive to Lukomir village we will meet our hosts, do the check in to a small guest house and have a refreshments. Later in the evening, we will have a dinner and enjoy endless conversations intertwined with fresh mt. breeze.

  • DAY 4 (Lukomir to Stolac – Welcome to Herzegovina)

We will start a day early after breakfast and head towards charming town of Konjic. Konjic is a town which is a home to one of the best preserved Ottoman bridges in the country. Konjic is a also home to the famous Tito’s bunker, nuclear shelter that was kept as a top secret all until 90s. Those of you who are interested learning more about Yugoslavia, we will easily arrange a visit to the place.

After Konjic we will head towards Jablanicko Lake. Jablanicko Lake is a magically spacious artificial lake which stretches from Konjic to Jablanica on an area of ​​13 km². This is where we will set up our boat and give you a unique insight to all the small islets forming a labyrinth you will hardly want to leave from. We will have a picnic lunch at the lake and head towards Stolac. 

A half an hour drive through suburbs of Herzegovina region will give a perfect insight to how people live here. We will drive next to endless vineyards and corn fields, plowed lands, and orchards.

Once in Stolac, we will do the check in at famous Mehmedbasica House which became a national monument under the state protection. Afternoon walk in the old town of Stolac and learning about this small town unique on so many different ways that it is absolutely incredible it is, for years, being neglected. 

  • DAY 5 (Full Day in Stolac – Crossroad of the diverse civilisations)

Tasty local breakfast made by our hosts will definitely be a perfect start of the day. Our first visit will be to a local market place Tapa where we will buy all the ingredients we will need for a super tasty dinner. Later on, we will be heading towards Daorson. These spectacular remains of the capital of the Hellenised Illyrian tribe of Daors date back from 300 to 50 BC .

Minutes from Daorson we will be welcomed by another treasure trove of Bosnian History – Radimlja Necropolis. Radimlja is the richest and most treasured necropolis which is, most likely, dating back from the 14th century. 

Once we are done at the two sites we will head to a local restaurant and have a tasty lunch and refreshments. Our next stop will be Rizvanbegovica House which used to be an administrative and cultural centre of the region of Herzegovina and Makova Hiza which was built in 2006 as a symbolic return of Mak Dizdar, one of the best poets in the region.

In the afternoon, we will return to our accommodation and hang out with locals with whom we will be preparing the tasty dinner. Treasure of Herzegovinian recipes is endless and we will make sure you taste the best of the best. 

  • DAY 6 (Stolac to Blagaj – Roman and Medieval Sites of Herzegovina)

We will start a day with another tasty breakfast and slowly pack our luggage. Our first stop will be Mogorjelo which is a unique archaeological monument from Roman times.

After Mogorjelo, we will head towards another treasure trove of Herzegovinian history- Pocitelj. This unique, medieval, Ottoman era glorified, present day Ottoman-Mediterranean style designed fortress – town Počitelj, is one of the very few urban ensembles in Bosnia and Herzegovina preserved in their integrity to the present times.

We will take a short break from the history abundance and jump into an amazing Kravica Falls. 

Our last stop for a day, and a place where we will spend a night is Blagaj. Blagaj town is home to Buna river spring – Europe’s most beautiful, most powerful, clean and drinkable karst river spring, settled beneath few hundred meters high rock. 

Once in Blagaj, we will do a check inn to our small guest house accommodation which was made with an idea to entirely preserve traditional Bosnian hospitality in every segment of hosting. After home-cooked lunch, we will head towards Blagaj Tekke and learn more about the Dervish life.

We will return in the later afternoon, and enjoy the rest of the evening next to the river and have a tasty barbecue for dinner.

  • DAY 7 (Blagaj to Livno with a visit to Mostar and Rama Lake)

On the way to Livno, we will make sure to stop in Mostar. We will discover the Mostar’s Old Bridge – it’s rise and fall, and how it had risen again, Old Bazaar and Old Town, but offer stories of Mostar’s uniqueness, in regard to historical and cultural diversity.

After we finish with exploring Mostar, we will head towards stunning Rama Lake. In its purity and beauty, Lake Rama is an ideal place for boat ride and swimming. 

Our next stop and call for a day will be Livno, pearl of West Herzegovina Region characterized by continental climatic conditions, warm summers, and extremely windy and cold winters. We will do the check in to at the charming local guest house, have some rest and do some nice and easy walks in the old town.

  • DAY 8 (Livno to Jajce with spectacular Sturba River Kayaking)

Another, home made organic breakfast with amazing variety of tasty local products and we will be good to go for another adventure. Our first stop will be charming village Sturba where we will indulge into kayaking which will certainly provide a chance to get closer to the nature that you ever were. 

The stop and a perfect place for lunch will be a completely off the beaten path haven tucked away within clean, clear, and authentic surroundings only 30km from Jajce. 

Our last stop for a day will be Royal Town of Jajce and the only city in the world with a natural waterfall in its main centre. We will find our charming wooden hut few kilometres further away completely surrounded by intact nature.

  • DAY 9 (Jajce to Sarajevo – Central Bosnia Region)

First part of the day, after breakfast, will be reserved for Jajce which truly bears epithet “royal” as it has been the residence of the Bosnian Kings. We will take a stroll through the city and enjoy absolutely fascinating combo of beautiful nature and complex history. 

Our next stop will be Travnik, town rich with cultural and historical heritage and a place where we will check up one of the best preserved Ottoman forts in our country, Coloured Mosque which is one of the most beautiful mosques in the region, Blue Water Springs and Travnik open market. 

Least, but definitely not the last, will be Visoko – Valley of Bosnian Pyramids and home to one of the best pottery artists in the region-Vahid. We will visit his home, have a lunch with his family and indulge in the world of pottery where Vahid will teach us how to make our own pottery souvenir. We will wander around this working area and admire his ancient ceramic collection. 

On the way to Sarajevo we will enjoy a nice ride and amazing sceneries of Sarajevo suburbs and arrive safely to the city in the early afternoon. Short stop at stunning Springs of River Bosnia including a Roman Bridge nested in complete serenity of the forest. 

  • DAY 10 (Departure)

Free morning for some nice and easy walks or visiting Sarajevo old town for some shopping before we pick you up and drive to the Sarajevo International Airport.

    This tour requires normal level of fitness and is doable for anyone of normal level of fitness.
  2. Is Bosnia safe off the beaten path travels?
    The best destinations in Bosnia are totally off the beaten path and surely it is safe to explore them.
  3. What is the weather like?
    Bosnia and Herzegovina is country of extremely differentiated weather seasons, meaning in the winter we have deep minus temperature and during the summer high plus, so make sure to know what to expect before arrival.
  4. How much should I tip?
    Tips are not included in the tour costs, nor they are heavily expected in Bosnian culture. However for excellent service, we recommend tipping.
  5. I found a better connecting flight. Can I be picked up in some other Balkan country?
    Please feel free to contact our team with your requires and we will be happy to make the necessary arrangements. 
  6. Can I book my own accommodation?
    Yes, you can. In case you prefer booking your own accommodation we will deduct the costs of hotel service from the overall price. 
  7. What is the currency I should use while in Bosnia?
    While some places do accept EUR make sure to have small amount of local currency (BAM)
