Overnight:4* Hotel in Zagreb (Croatia) in double/twin room with breakfast
Meals included:Welcome drinks and snack-lunch with Funky Tours host
Included activity:Walking tour of Zagreb and airport transfers

Activity Note:Welcome to Croatia! Your 8-day journey begins in the capital city of Zagreb, a place where Central European elegance meets Mediterranean charm.

After arrival and airport (train or bus station) pickup, you’ll check into your cozy centrally located 4-star hotel and have some free time to relax, grab lunch, or take a casual walk around the neighborhood.

In the afternoon, we’ll gather for a guided walking tour of Zagreb, where you’ll get to know the city’s unique blend of history, architecture, and quirky culture. From the cobblestone streets of the Upper Town (Gornji Grad) to the vibrant energy of Ban Jelačić Square, your local guide will take you through the heart of the city.

Experiences in Croatia

You’ll see highlights such as the Lotrščak Tower, Stone Gate, St. Mark’s Church, and the colorful stalls of Dolac Market. We’ll also stroll down Tkalčićeva Street, a lively promenade known for its cafés and local buzz, and explore some of the lesser-known corners of the city that are beloved by locals.

After the tour, it’s time to get to know your fellow travelers better! We’ll meet for welcome drinks with your Funky Tours host, where we’ll go over the itinerary, share insider tips for the days ahead, and toast to the adventure about to unfold. It’s a relaxed and informal evening where you’ll get answers to any practical questions and begin forming bonds with the group.

Zagreb walking with funicular ride

The rest of the evening is yours to enjoy. Whether you want to join your new travel mates for dinner at one of Zagreb’s traditional taverns or head out solo to discover the city’s thriving food and wine scene, the night is open.

Overnight stay in Zagreb in a handpicked 4-star hotel. Tomorrow, the adventure heads into nature.

WHEN YOU HAVE FREE TIME IN ZAGREB

In your free afternoon in Zagreb, we encourage you to explore the city’s vibrant blend of culture, history, and relaxed street life. For museum lovers, don’t miss the Museum of Broken Relationships, a globally recognized collection of personal stories and objects from love lost, or the Zagreb City Museum, which offers an engaging overview of the capital’s rich and layered history. Art lovers may also enjoy the Museum of Contemporary Art or the Mestrovic Atelier, dedicated to Croatia’s most famous sculptor.

If museums aren’t your thing, take a walk through the lush Botanical Garden, explore the bustling Dolac Market for fresh produce and local flavors, or hop on the shortest funicular in the world to reach the Upper Town (Gornji Grad). From there, stroll the romantic Strossmayer Promenade, visit St. Mark’s Church, and enjoy panoramic views of the city. For something quirky, try to spot the city’s iconic blue trams or snap a photo at the hidden Art Park, an urban space filled with street art and chill vibes.

When you’re ready to relax, Tkalčićeva Street is the place to be—lined with cozy cafés, wine bars, and bistros where you can sit back and enjoy Zagreb’s lively, laid-back energy.

DAY 2: Plitvice Lakes National Park – Waterfalls, Forest Trails & Off-the-Beaten-Path Biking

Overnight:Private lodge at Plitvice Lakes National Park in double/twin room with breakfast
Meals included:Breakfast and lunch
Included activity:3-4 hour hike in Plitvice National Park
Optional activity:Guided or self-guided biking in the area of Plitvice National Park (equipment can be arranged)

Activity Note:After breakfast in Zagreb, we leave the capital behind and begin our journey south, heading toward one of Croatia’s most celebrated natural wonders—Plitvice Lakes National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the oldest national park in Southeast Europe.

Upon the morning arrival, we’ll head straight into the park for a stunning walking experience that takes you deep into its most spectacular highlights. Wooden footbridges and forest trails lead us through a mesmerizing landscape of 16 cascading lakes, interconnected by countless waterfalls, turquoise pools, mossy cliffs, and lush woodlands.

As we explore the park’s Lower and Upper Lakes, you will get insights into the region’s geology, flora and fauna, and the unique karst hydrology that created this natural masterpiece. You’ll have plenty of time for scenic views, photos, and moments of peace amidst one of Europe’s most extraordinary ecosystems.

After the park visit, we head to our accommodation—an inviting lodge-style guesthouse tucked in the tranquil Plitvice Lakes region, away from the crowds of the park’s commercial center. Following check-in, we enjoy a hearty local lunch featuring traditional dishes made from local ingredients.

The afternoon is free for you to unwind or choose to join an optional biking excursion through the peaceful countryside surrounding the park. Unlike the core areas of Plitvice—which are walk-only and often crowded—the broader region offers wide open landscapes, forest roads, meadows, and quiet lakeside villages perfect for cycling. It’s an ideal way to explore the natural beauty of Lika beyond the usual tourist path.

Whether you opt to bike or relax with a drink on your lodge terrace, the peacefulness of this area is a perfect contrast to the busy park trails.

In the evening, enjoy a relaxed atmosphere at the lodge with a glass of local rakija or herbal tea. The night is yours to recharge under the stars, with the soothing sound of nature all around you.

RECOMMENDED BIKING TRAILS IN PLITVICE REGION

1. Barać Caves Loop (12–30 km, Easy to Moderate)

A delightful, rolling-route that passes through gentle hills to the intriguing Barać Caves. This family-friendly, well-marked trail takes you through charming countryside and lush woodlands—perfect if you’re seeking a balanced mix of nature and light adventure.

2. Rakovica to Čatrnja – Drežnik Grad & Barac Caves (27.9 km, Moderate)

Set off from Rakovica, head to Selište Drežničko, and onward across serene forest paths to Drežnik Grad with an optional side trip to the Barać Caves. The route loops back through Lipovača and Grabovac—offering a steady climb, diverse terrain, and a deeper glimpse into Lika’s traditional villages.

3. Jezerce Loop (~10–30 km, Intermediate)

Starting near Jezerce, this ride offers variable distances—from about 10 km (with modest climbs) to longer, more challenging loops (~30 km) that reward you with views over rolling pastures and forested slopes.

4. Scenic Views around Korenica & Plješevica (Moderate to Demanding)

For riders feeling adventurous, regional routes around Korenica head toward the Matica River and ascend into meadows overlooking Plješevica and Mrsinj. These paths are less-traveled and offer sweeping views of the Korenica basin—ideal for fit cyclists craving solitude and panorama.

DAY 3: Velebit National Park – Hike the Legendary Premužić Trail & Swim in Zavratnica Bay

Overnight:Guesthouse or small boutique hotel in Jablanac (sea front)
Meals included:Breakfast and picnic lunch during the hike
Included activity:Hike Zavižan–Alan (Premužić Trail), swimming at Zavratnica Bay

Velebit National Park - Croatia

Activity Note:Today we trade the lush forests of Plitvice for the majestic limestone ridges of Velebit, Croatia’s longest mountain range and home to one of the most scenic hiking trails in Europe—Premužićeva staza.

After breakfast, we make our way toward the northern part of Velebit National Park, arriving at the Zavižan Mountain Hut—the trailhead of our hike. Towering at over 1,500 meters above sea level, this part of the park offers dramatic views over the Adriatic Sea and nearby islands.

We’ll depart on a hike along the most iconic section of the Premužić Trail, from Zavižan to Alan, a journey of approximately 15 kilometers (about 4–5 hours of walking at a moderate pace). This well-maintained trail gently weaves through karst formations, beech forests, and high mountain ridges, offering panoramic views and frequent chances to stop and soak it all in. The trail is technically easy, designed with such gentle gradients that it’s often called the most scenic “walk” in Croatia.

After completing the hike, we descend toward the coast and head to Zavratnica Bay, a hidden gem of the Adriatic. Just outside the tiny port village of Jablanac, this emerald inlet is surrounded by steep cliffs and is a perfect spot for a refreshing afternoon swim.

Those with energy to spare can walk the easy coastal path to Zavratnica, while others can enjoy a short boat ride or simply relax on the pebbled beach.

After a full day of highland adventure and seaside relaxation, we check into our accommodation in Jablanac, a peaceful coastal village nestled between the mountains and sea. With its slow pace and natural beauty, Jablanac offers a welcome break from the crowds and a perfect night’s rest after a day of activity.

DAY 4: Paklenica National Park – Canyons, Cliffs & Forest Trails → Afternoon in Zadar

Overnight:Boutique 4* hotel in Zadar
Meals included:Breakfast, traditional lunch at mountain hut
Included activity:Guided hiking in Paklenica, Zadar walking tour
Optional activity:Rock climbing tryout with professional instructors

Activity Note:This morning, we venture into one of Croatia’s most iconic hiking and climbing destinations—Paklenica National Park, nestled on the coastal slopes of the mighty Velebit mountain range. Known for its deep gorges, dense forests, and towering rock faces, Paklenica is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and a true gem of Croatia’s wilderness.

Our main focus today is a guided hike through Velika Paklenica Canyon, a spectacular karst gorge that carves its way through the mountains. As we follow forested trails and streamside paths beneath dramatic cliff faces, your Funky Tours guide will share insights into the park’s wildlife, flora, and cultural heritage.

Along the way, we stop for a delicious mountain-style lunch at a traditional planinarski dom (mountain hut) tucked inside the canyon. Expect hearty, homecooked fare like bean stew, fresh bread, local cheeses, or grilled mountain sausages—served in a rustic, warm, and welcoming atmosphere.

For the adventurous: Paklenica is internationally known for rock climbing, and an optional climbing tryout can be arranged during the visit. Under the supervision of certified local climbing professionals, guests can experience the thrill of climbing one of the park’s natural limestone walls in a safe and controlled environment. This is a fantastic way to step out of your comfort zone—no prior experience is required!

After the park visit, we transfer to the coastal town of Zadar, arriving by mid-afternoon. Once there we shall check into our 4-star hotel, and dive into an afternoon walking tour of Zadar’s Old Town, where Roman ruins meet medieval architecture and modern art installations.

You’ll explore the ancient Roman Forum, admire the unique St. Donatus Church, stroll the historic city gates and Venetian walls, and end the tour at the world-famous Sea Organ and Sun Salutation—two awe-inspiring creations that blend nature, music, and design on the edge of the Adriatic.

Zadar and Sea Organs (Croatia)

The evening is yours to enjoy. Whether you choose a relaxed dinner by the sea or a lively local wine bar, Zadar’s vibe is the perfect prelude to your upcoming sailing adventure.

DAY 5: Sailing Begins – Kornati National Park with Sunset in Smokvica Bay

Overnight:Aboard the catamaran, anchored in Smokvica Bay, Kornati National Park
Meals included:Breakfast, Lunch (onboard)
Included activity:Sailing, swimming/snorkeling, optional sunset hike
Dinner:On shore at Smokvica Bay restaurant (à la carte – not included)

Activity Note:Today we set off on the most relaxing and scenic chapter of your Croatian journey—four days of small-group sailing through the stunning Adriatic. After breakfast and a leisurely morning in Zadar, we transfer to the charming coastal village of Tribunj, where your crewed modern catamaran is waiting.

Once aboard—typically between 1:00 and 1:30 PM—you’ll enjoy a freshly prepared welcome lunch, served on deck as you settle in, meet your crew, and get briefed on life at sea. Your floating home for the next three nights is a beautifully equipped catamaran designed for comfort, space, and effortless movement between islands.

Around 2:00 PM, we lift anchor and set sail northwest toward the mesmerizing world of Kornati National Park, a surreal landscape of over 140 mostly uninhabited islands and islets. As we enter the southern reaches of the archipelago, the bare, rocky islands rise dramatically from the crystal-clear sea—creating one of the most unique and protected seascapes in Europe.

We’ll take our time sailing through narrow channels and stopping in one of the park’s serene bays for a swim, snorkeling, or paddleboarding in turquoise waters. The afternoon is all about unwinding, soaking in the views, and enjoying the slow pace of life on the Adriatic.

By late afternoon, we reach Smokvica Bay, our anchorage for the night. This remote, sheltered bay offers total peace and a deep connection with nature.

Before dinner, take the chance to stretch your legs on a short but rewarding hike up the hill above the bay. From the top, you’ll enjoy a 360-degree sunset view over Kornati’s scattered islands—an experience that perfectly captures the magic of this untouched paradise.

In the evening, we head ashore for dinner at a traditional konoba in Smokvica, known for its freshly caught seafood, local wines, and the warm, rustic charm that defines island hospitality.

DAY 6: Adriatic Island Hopping – Hidden Bays, Crystal Waters & the Coral Island of Zlarin

Overnight:Aboard the catamaran, anchored in Zlarin marina
Meals included:Breakfast, Lunch (onboard)
Included activity:Sailing, swimming/snorkeling in hidden bays
Dinner:On your own at Zlarin Island (recommendations available from crew)

Activity Note:Wake up to the gentle sway of the catamaran and the rising sun over Kornati—today is all about the freedom of sailing, the thrill of discovering hidden bays, and the charm of Croatia’s most authentic islands.

After a peaceful morning swim or a quiet coffee on deck, we ease into the day with a freshly prepared breakfast onboard, surrounded by the gentle sounds of the sea. As the catamaran gently rocks beneath your feet, the Adriatic reveals its magic once again.

Shortly after breakfast, we set sail southeast, leaving the stark beauty of Kornati behind and entering the enchanting waters of the Šibenik archipelago—a scattered collection of off-the-radar islands, rich with natural beauty, traditional island life, and secluded coves that invite exploration and relaxation.

With no set rush or pressure, we embrace the sailing rhythm, stopping along the way in secluded bays perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and paddleboarding. Your crew will always find the best possible spots, tailored to the day’s wind, weather, and group mood.

Your lunch is served onboard, thoughtfully prepared from scratch by your onboard host-chef. Using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, this home-style meal is crafted with care, reflecting both the regional flavors of Dalmatia and your personal preferences.

Our destination for the day is the island of Zlarin, one of the most unique and culturally significant islands in Dalmatia. Known as the “island of corals”, Zlarin has a long-standing tradition of coral harvesting and jewelry making, once serving as a vital maritime center. Even today, the island honors its coral heritage with museums, artisan workshops, and an annual Coral Festival.

But Zlarin is special for more than just its coral: it is completely car-free, offering peace, clean air, and a truly timeless atmosphere. Narrow stone streets, charming harbor cafés, historic churches, and pine-covered trails invite you to slow down and connect with nature.

After exploring the village, you’ll have time to relax on one of the island’s quiet beaches, take a walk along the pine-fringed coastline, or even catch a stunning sunset over the Adriatic. For those feeling active, Zlarin also offers a simple open-air gym near the waterfront—a great spot to stretch, train, or just enjoy a unique workout with a view.

Dinner is on your own tonight, giving you a chance to try one of Zlarin’s small family-run konobas. Whether it’s grilled Adriatic fish, homemade pasta, or a simple plate of olives, cheese, and wine, every bite tastes better with your feet in the sand and no cars in sight.

As night falls, return to the boat or take a peaceful evening stroll under the stars—on Zlarin, silence is part of the luxury.

WHEN YOU HAVE FREE TIME IN ZLARIN

Once you arrive in Zlarin and settle in, the afternoon is yours to explore this peaceful, car-free island at your own pace. Known for its long tradition of red coral harvesting, Zlarin invites you to visit the local Coral Museum or small artisan shops where handcrafted coral jewelry reflects centuries-old skills. You can also take a walk along the pine-shaded coastline, discover quiet pebble beaches perfect for a swim, or simply relax in the harbor with a cold drink and watch local fishing boats glide by. For those wanting to stay active, a short hike or bike ride inland will take you to scenic viewpoints overlooking the Šibenik archipelago. Whether you’re wandering its sleepy stone alleys, training at the island’s open-air gym, or catching the golden hour light from the seafront promenade, Zlarin offers a perfect mix of tranquility, nature, and authentic island charm.

DAY 7: Sail Through Krka Canal → Skradin & Krka National Park Exploration

Overnight:Aboard the catamaran, anchored in Skradin marina
Meals included:Breakfast, Lunch (onboard)
Included activity:Sailing, swimming/snorkeling in hidden bays, cruising through Krka Canal, swimming stop, Krka National Park visit by boat
Optional activity:Oyster tasting stop, cycling in Krka National Park
Dinner:On your own in Skradin town (recommendations available from crew)

Activity Note:Your final full day at sea begins with a relaxed onboard breakfast, enjoyed as we slowly sail away from Zlarin Island.

The morning is dedicated to soaking in the beauty of the Šibenik archipelago, with a swimming stop planned at one of the nearby islands—either Prvić, Obonjan, or Tijat, depending on the wind and sea conditions. These islands offer hidden coves, calm turquoise bays, and some of the best water for swimming and paddleboarding in the region.

After our swim, we continue sailing through the scenic Šibenik archipelago, enjoying the views of scattered islands, rocky islets, and open sea channels. This stretch is one of the most visually captivating parts of the journey—an ideal moment to lounge on deck, soak in the sun, or join the skipper at the helm as we navigate the channels.

Around 2:00 PM, we approach the mainland and officially enter the Krka Canal. This inland sea passage marks a dramatic shift in landscape—from the open Adriatic to a lush, fjord-like river estuary surrounded by vineyards, cliffs, and historic settlements.

As we motor through, we’ll pass by the UNESCO-listed St. Nicholas Fortress, the old town of Šibenik, and possibly make an optional stop at a local oyster farm, where guests can sample fresh oysters and learn more about the region’s aquaculture traditions.

Somewhere along the peaceful canal stretch, we’ll anchor for our final onboard lunch—a freshly cooked meal served al fresco, followed by a relaxed swim in the calm river waters.

By around 5:00 PM, we arrive in the riverside town of Skradin, where we prepare for an excursion into Krka National Park. A short scenic boat ride will take us upstream into the park, where we’ll visit the famous Skradinski Buk waterfall, explore forest trails and wooden walkways, and discover restored watermills and riverside viewpoints.

For those seeking a more active experience, bike rentals are available at Skradin for a self-guided cycling tour into the park—an excellent way to see more of Krka’s natural wonders at your own pace.
After returning from the park, the evening is yours to enjoy in Skradin, one of Croatia’s prettiest little towns.

Guests are free to choose their own spot for dinner—whether it’s a riverside konoba, a wine bar, or just a scoop of ice cream by the marina. The mood is relaxed, the views are charming, and the night is perfect for reflection.

WHEN YOU HAVE FREE TIME IN SKRADIN

After returning from Krka National Park, take time to enjoy the relaxed charm of Skradin, a small riverside town where nature, culture, and gastronomy come together beautifully. You can stroll along the marina promenade, browse local shops, or walk up to the Skradin Fortress for lovely views of the Krka River. Wine lovers might want to stop by a local wine bar for a tasting of regional varietals like Debit or Plavina, while foodies can choose from a handful of cozy konobas serving up traditional Dalmatian specialties like risotto, pasticada, or fresh river fish. Skradin is also ideal for unwinding—find a quiet corner by the river, enjoy a gelato, or simply sit in the shade and soak in the town’s easygoing rhythm as boats gently sway in the marina. As the sun sets, the golden light over the river and terracotta rooftops makes for a peaceful and perfect end to your day.

DAY 8: Morning in Skradin → Explore Šibenik → Final Sail & Transfer to Split

Meals included:Breakfast
Included activity:Cruise back the Krka canal, self-guided visit to Šibenik Old Town, final swim stop
End:Around 7:00 PM in Split (group transfer included)
Optional:Transfer to Dubrovnik

Activity Note:Your final day begins with a peaceful morning in Skradin—enjoy a slow cup of coffee on deck, take a short stroll along the riverfront, or simply soak in the last moments of this charming little town. After a relaxed onboard breakfast, we raise anchor and begin our final leg of the sailing journey.

We cruise gently down the Krka River and into the historic city of Šibenik, where we’ll dock for approximately two hours. This is your chance to freely explore Šibenik at your own pace—a city often overlooked but rich with history, culture, and stunning architecture.

Visit the UNESCO-listed St. James Cathedral, wander the narrow stone alleyways, or grab a quick espresso in a sunny square.

After our time in Šibenik, we exit the Krka Canal and enjoy one last stretch of open-sea sailing along the Dalmatian coast. Along the way, we’ll anchor for a final swim stop in one of the tranquil bays and enjoy a light, freshly prepared lunch onboard—the perfect send-off from life at sea.

By around 5:00 PM, we return to Tribunj marina, where our sailing adventure officially comes to an end. After disembarkation and farewells with the crew, a comfortable group transfer to Split is arranged.

We arrive in Split by approximately 7:00 PM, where the tour officially concludes. Drop-off will be at your accommodation or a central location, depending on your onward plans.

Your catamaran includes comfortable cabins, private AC bathrooms, a kitchen, dining area, sun decks, and paddleboard/snorkel gear. It’s like a floating boutique hotel!

Yes. All transfers between destinations—including the final transfer from Tribunj marina to Split—are included in the price.

Hotels and guesthouses offer Wi-Fi. The catamaran may have limited signal while sailing, but 4G coverage is surprisingly good near the coast and islands.

Not necessarily, but it’s smart to carry a copy of your passport and travel insurance.. Having digital versions backed up on your phone or cloud is also recommended.

Q: Do I need travel insurance?
Yes, comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory, covering medical, personal liability, trip cancellation, and any adventurous activities such as hiking or sailing.
