Activity Note: The tour is adapted to all ages and it is easy to medium demanding. Due to the distance of the location, we use vehicle to get to the starting point, the rest of the tour is done on foot in beautiful natural surroundings.
We shall wait for you at our Funky Tours office in the old town. For those of you staying outside the old town area, our team will be happy to organise a free of charge pick up at your address. Roughly 20min drive will take us through Sarajevo old town suburbs. Once we leave our car we will pass next to famous Mt. hut and restaurant Promaha and continue our hike through a dense forest until we reach a village.
We will continue our hike through a dense forest until we reach a village. Roughly 1 hr of easy uphill hike will bring us to Bukovik. Being at 1534 m Bukovik is known as the highest peak of Sarajevski Ozren Mountain which provides spectacular views over the city of Sarajevo and four Olympic mountains: Bjelašnica, Igman, Trebević and Jahorina.
After we bless our eyes and make some amazing photos we will descend to Mt. Hut Bukovik where we shall have some refreshments and prepare for the next part towards the Skakavac Waterfall.
We will continue our hike towards Skakavac waterfall by following the rugged trail that will take us through a dense spruce-fir and beech-fir forest. This part will be mostly descending towards the Falls and, even-though being the most challenging part of a day, spectacular views from the vantage point overlooking the Falls will be worth it.
We will know we are close to the falls once we notice the stunning thermophilic forests, underbrush of hop hornbeam, autumn moor grass and flowering ash. Although you can not swim there, Skakavac waterfall and it’s water particles creating a thick mist will offer a true refreshment. At a very next to the waterfall we will set up the picnic lunch and enjoy some tasty local food our team will prepare for you in advance.
The way back will be mostly flat forest trail wide enough for two persons to pass abreast. In a few places it is intersected by the beds of streams which are active only in spring and after heavy rainfall. The stream beds are bridged with charmingly improvised wooden bridges.
Thanks to its family friendliness and the fact it can be done by children as well, this hike is one of the favourites among the locals so, on our way, besides enjoying the abundance of flowers and endemic plants, we will also have a chance to see lots of smiley and happy local people enjoying their time in this untouched peace of heaven.
We shall arrive to Mt. Promaha at around 4 PM and have some tasty Bosnian coffee and home made juice before we depart to Sarajevo.
