The first point of exploration of the Durmitor ring route, which is also the best view of the Tara canyon, is the Ćurevac lookout point. The lookout point itself, which is located at 1625m above sea level, cannot be completely reached by car, so a two-way walk on undemanding terrain of about an hour is absolutely recommended.
As we stand there, the magnificent views over the canyon of Tara river, will easily prove a fact that after the Grand Canyon in the USA, it is the World’s 2nd highest canyon.
Simply stunning 360 views are hard to believe until you are there.

The next stop of the day will be “Momčilov Grad”. At the slopes, high above Tara canyon, is home to a fortified town of Prlitor. The town founded by Bosnian duke Sandalj Hranič Kosača, in the XIV century, is today better known for the epic hero Duke Momčilo who died of treason by his wife.
Momčilov Grad is home to one of the most famous restaurants in the region of Durmitor.
The road now leads over the pass between Mali Štuoc (1,953 m) and Veliki Štuoc (2,104 m).

As we continue our Durmitor Ring adventure, we visit one of the most interesting villages, not only in Montenegro, but in the whole region of Balkans – the famous village of “Mala Crna Gora” (Little Montenegro).
It is located at an altitude of 1700m, at the edge of stunning Sušica canyon, the village is snow-blocked from November to May, as the road is mostly inaccessible during the winter time. At the village, get ready to meet a few of the remaining locals, possibly be invited for a rakija, and admire the lifestyle of true Durmitor nomads.
>Meet the locals at Mala Crna Gora village
At the bottom of the Sušica canyon, there is an amazing Sušica lake. The lake is of periodical nature, especially being beautiful during the early spring days. Usually in the summertime, when large underground streams drop down, the lake disappears underground until the next winter.

What Do I Need to Bring?
We had such an amazing time with Daki in Durmitor.
He was a great guide, very friendly and always giving us the context of all the places we were going through. For eating, the tour included a stop for coffe and local products, and an amazing lunch with traditional meals. Daki showed us amazing view points that we would never see if we planned a tour by ourselves. We totally recommend a tour with Daki!
Amazing tour and Montenegrin Experience with Funky Tours!!
We were a group of 4 in mid twenties and did two different day tours with this company. The first day was as advertised on their website and went to Skaddar Lake, Lipa Caves, Lovcen National Park, Rejiska, Centinje and the second was a customized tour to Durmitor National Park, Tara Bridge, Biogradska National Park and Moraca Canyon/Monastery.
Before we arrived in the country, the organization and communication was great and we found it easy to book tours and they were flexible and catered to our needs and what we wanted to see by making customized tours just for us.
Both tours themselves were absolutely fantastic. They were a perfect blend of different types of activities and allowed us to see nearly all of Montenegro in just a short space of time.
The company were also flexible with pickup and drop off in different cities to allow us to see all areas.
The guides (Skender, Ana and Slavko) were both a great blend of informative and fun. They were extremely knowledgeable about the country and the areas we visited and we learnt so much about the wonderful country.
We will definitely be booking with funky tours again when we travel to Bosnia/Serbia in the future.
The Funky Tours team was absolutely excellent!
Great people to spend the day with. Each taxi, host or guide they set us up with spoke great English and was very personable.
We spent 5 nights in Bosnia. Funky Tours set up everything for us.
Our only major responsibility was to wake up and make it to the van, everything else into the evening was taken care of.
A very memorable trip.
