East Bosnia regions, bordering western Montenegro with its pearl of Sutjeska National Park, or as people call it “The Yosemite of the Balkans” are ideal destinations for any true nature lover, either seeking adrenaline or just easy and relaxed explorations.
Sutjeska National Park is the best of the untouched nature can offer. Just by saying it is home to a Bosnian highest mountain peak of Maglić (2386m), and heart-shaped glacier Trnovačko lake, with addition to European last rainforest of Perućica, and amazing canyon of river Tara, we believe it is more than enough to give this region at least day of your time – time fully enriched with stunning nature experiences which will last for a lifetime.
For those reasons we have developed full day itinerary which is great for anyone of medium to high fitness level, and delivers the best of Sutjeska National Park in one day.
Region of Sutjeska National Park is completely safe from any perspective of mines. Sarajevo Funky Tours will NEVER conduct trips to any areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina having ANY risk at all from perspective of mines.
Safety of our guests and ourselves, is our most important priority.

Tjentište is famous WW2 Sutjeska Battle memorial, very meaningful for the general story of Yugoslavia, which is surely unmissable topic to anyone travelling Balkans, and the topic we’ll be discussing a lot during this two days program. The last 45 min of the ride will take us up the gravel road (cca 17 km) through the heart of Sutjeska’s National Park untouched nature regions, where we will reach start point of our hiking trail, spot called Prijevor at 1668 m.a.s.l. What Do I Need to Bring?
Ground tour for sarajevo
Thank you Ema and the gang at sarajevo funky tours for taking care of us during our 6-day stay in sarajevo.
The guides were extremely good and informative and the drivers were careful and responsible during our trip. It was a most enjoyable trip.
This is a great team!
We interacted with several people in the Funky Tours team, and they were all great. The office staff responded quickly and were very helpful, and the tour guides were also helpful and informative. I would go with them again any time!
Sarajevo Total Siege Tour and Sutjeska National Park Hiking
Great experience on both tours. Guides were fantastic, informative and welcoming. Would highly recommended to see get the true experience of Sarajevo and surrounding areas.
Lukomir and Sutjeska tour
I had the pleasure of heading out on two tours with Saudin from Funky Tours. Two individual day hikes to explore Bosnian nature and points of interest.
The tours both in their own right were interesting and challenging. Being able to hike through areas that without a car and guide are challenging.
Would highly recommend both the lukomkir village and Sutjeska/Piva tours.
Thanks again!!!
Fantastic day hike in Sutjeska National Park
I generally prefer to hike alone, but going with Sarajevo Funky Tours was a wonderful experience. From start to finish, everything was perfect. My family would not have enjoyed our day nearly as much if we had tried to do it on our own.
Our guide Saudin is both a very experienced hiker and climber and has studied biology at university. He is also an environmentalist. His expertise and very affable manner made the day a most memorable one. My family and I also had the pleasure of another guide who accompanied us, Ejub, who also provided invaluable insights into the complicated history of his incredibly fascinating country.
The hike itself is not difficult for those who like to hike, but it is a 4-5 hour journey with just a little bit of climbing. The views were spectacular along the entire way, and lunch at the Trnvacko lake was wonderful. We even got a special, unexpected treat from the local man who rides his horse everyday to tend to the lake! What makes this hike so special is that you are trekking in a truly astounding natural habitat with so few tourists. Having hiked in several other countries where you feel like you’re in a parade, this was something truly special!
Sarajevo Funky Tours was really good about communicating with us regarding every detail of the trip from the moment I reached out to them. I wholeheartedly recommend taking a trip with them if you want to learn about and enjoy Bosnia and Herzegovina in a way that is not likely possible on your own.
